Nothing beats the taste of a home-cooked meal while spending time in nature. Here are five cozy meals for cold-weather camping—from breakfast all the way to dessert.

Bacon egg and cheese breakfast burrito

1. Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Breakfast Burritos

What’s better than cooking breakfast on a quiet Sunday morning, surrounded by family and friends, and soaking in the early morning sunlight at the campground? Not much, we’d say. Well, why not top off your peaceful morning with some easy-to-make breakfast burritos?

The main ingredients in these mouth-watering burritos are bacon, egg, and cheese—making it a great meal to get everyone going for the day since it’s full of healthy fats, carbohydrates, and protein. You’ll also need tortillas, shredded cheese, salt and pepper, and any other ingredients of choice, such as tomatoes or sour cream. These breakfast burritos are great for large groups since the ingredients can be customized. For example, if you or your kids don’t like peppers and onions, then they can easily be left out.

For this recipe, you’ll need a couple of frying pans, a cutting board, mixing bowl, spatula, and knife. Check out the full recipe here.

3 ingredient banana oat pancakes

2. 3-Ingredient Banana Oat Pancakes

Imagine a chilly fall morning where a stack of pancakes is sitting in front of you (with maple syrup poured all over them, of course) and your cup of coffee is steaming on the side—sounds heavenly! These three-ingredient pancakes are great if you are short on time and want to whip up something healthy and delicious. This recipe calls for mashed banana,  unsweetened almond butter, and old-fashioned oats, but you can also bring oat flour if you don’t want to pulse the oats into flour with a blender (plus, not needing a blender is one less thing to pack for your camping trip). To make these pancakes even more delicious, try adding in blueberries or chocolate chips.

For this recipe, you’ll need a frying pan, mixing bowl, spatula, fork for mashing, and whisk. Check out the full recipe here.

Grilled turkey and cheese sandwiches

3. Grilled Turkey and Cheese Sandwich

Sandwiches are one of the best easy and delicious RV meals because they are easy to make, super versatile, and nearly everyone loves them. That’s why we recommend making this tasty and cozy grilled turkey and cheese the next time you and your loved ones find yourselves craving lunch while camping. You can even whip up these sandwiches in the morning and pack them for your day of apple picking, snowshoeing, or whatever other cold-weather camping activities you enjoy.

For this recipe, the only cooking utensils you really need is a spatula to flip the sandwich and a frying pan. This recipe calls for turkey deli meat, provolone cheese, pesto, butter, and sourdough bread, but of course, you can substitute other ingredients based on your preference, such as avocado instead of pesto or whole wheat bread instead of sour dough. Check out the full recipe here.

Chicken noodle soup

4. Chicken Noodle Soup

Did you really think we were going to write a “cozy meal” blog post without mentioning soup? Of course not! There’s no better way to warm up your body (especially if you spent the day hiking or walking in the cold) than with a hot, steaming bowl of chicken noodle soup.

We chose this recipe because the ingredients are easy to pack in your cooler and to cook at a campsite. As you may have assumed, this recipe calls for all of the classic chicken noodle soup ingredients: chicken, noodles, broth, onions, celery, carrots, basil, and oregano. You can simplify the cooking process even more by prepping the chicken at home. Don’t forget to bring you favorite grated cheese and bread to go with it!

For this recipe, you’ll only need a pot and wooden spoon for cooking utensils. Check out the full recipe here.

Dessert quesadillas

5. Dessert Quesadillas

If you like to satisfy your sweet tooth at the end of the day, we’ve got you covered. Although sitting around a campfire often calls for s’mores, it’s nice to change things up every once in a while, especially with these delicious dessert quesadillas. And yes, you read that right.

Perhaps you’ve heard of dessert pizza, which is usually just a giant cookie or brownie that’s baked and cut like a pizza. These dessert quesadillas have a similar idea, only they are cooked and cut like your favorite Mexican dish, but with sugar and chocolate—yum!

This is a great sharable dessert for both adults and kids, but be aware that this recipe does include peanut butter. You can easily make these without peanut butter if someone is allergic, and they will still taste just as delicious. Other ingredients in this recipe include: whole wheat tortillas, cinnamon, chocolate, butter, honey, and whipped cream. You can also substitute the whipped cream for greek yogurt if you are looking for a healthier, higher-protein option.

For this recipe, you’ll just need a skillet. Check out the full recipe here.

If you find yourself having some extra down time while RVing and want to experiment with new meals, then try one or more of these cold-weather-friendly recipes for yourself, family, and friends. The best part is, most of them are easy to make and don’t take much time or cooking supplies to whip up. Plus, the quicker you cook them, the sooner you’ll be sitting around the campfire eating cozy food and connecting with RV neighbors and friends.

See you on the road!
